  • Manavgat Waterfall on a weekday morning avoids the weekend coach groups.

Side Harbour

Begin where the fishing boats meet the ancient peninsula. Shoot the water reflections, colourful hulls and the old town walls rising behind the marina.

Photo Tip

Use a polarising filter or phone HDR to cut through morning glare on the water. Frame the boats with the Apollo columns visible in the background for context.

Look for shaded passages between 09:00 and 10:00. The dappled light on stone creates texture without harsh shadows. Shoot from hip level for a more candid travel feel.

Photo Tip

Shoot from the north side of the platform for the cleanest sea-and-column composition. At sunset, expose for the sky and let the columns fall to silhouette, or use a person in the foreground for scale.

Walk east until the beach clears. Use the wet sand as a mirror for sky reflections at low tide. Sunset here faces the peninsula, not the open sea — position yourself for backlit silhouettes.

Oymapınar adds an expansive mountain-and-reservoir perspective that Side’s compact coastline cannot offer. The dam creates a long, narrow body of water backed by rising terrain. From the viewing areas above the dam, you can compose wide frames that include water, forested slopes and the Taurus Mountains in a single shot.

PHOTO TIP: The roadside viewpoint above the dam gives the widest perspective, but the more interesting foreground detail is at water level near the small boat docks. Combine both for a varied set rather than staying at one elevation.

Titreyengöl & Sorgun

The lake and forest landscape around Titreyengöl and Sorgun offers a quieter visual alternative to the dense historic core of Side. Trees, water reflections, natural paths and filtered light create softer travel and lifestyle photography. The area is particularly useful for portraits where you want greenery and calm water rather than stone or sea.

PHOTO TIP: Walk the northern edge of Titreyengöl in early morning — the still water mirrors the trees and the light filters through the pines at a low angle. This is one of the few locations near Side where mist can form over water at dawn.

Sorgun Forest

Sorgun works when the goal is texture and atmosphere rather than a landmark postcard. Pine trunks, sandy paths, dappled light and the transition between forest and Mediterranean coast can add depth to portraits and quieter travel photography. The forest edge near the beach creates an unusual combination of pine and sea in a single frame.

PHOTO TIP: Use the forest edge where Sorgun meets the beach — the line between pine trees and open sand creates a natural frame. Face east in the morning so the light comes through the trees behind your subject.
